Our identities are a part of us and we bear them with us all the time. The identity is reflected through our acts, our thoughts, and our ideas. At the same time, identities reveal a lot about people like who they are, which group they belong to, and other interesting facts that are not necessarily said or intentionally meant to be delivered to others. An interesting question in this context is about how our identities are formed and how they are shaped.
It is quite impossible to write about all the factors that form the identity in one research. This is because identity is such a complex matter that is influenced by many factors and combinations. Among the most obvious matters that form our identities are social belonging, family, and cultural background. In simpler terms, our identities are the result of the sum of all influential factors together to result in who we are. For example, belonging to a certain culture means that there is a strong tie between us and this culture. Thus, there are several aspects of this specific culture that are reflected in our identities. Such a good example is about belonging to a certain religion and believing in it will be obvious in our acts and thoughts which are the ways to express our identities.
Moreover, the factors that influence our identities can have negative and positive aspects. That is, belonging to a certain social group, a certain culture, or growing up in a specific family with certain circumstances will form our identities according to this. If those circumstances are to have positive effects on our lives then our identities will be shaped accordingly. The same applies to negative aspects that form our identities.
Finally, identities are formed by different factors. It is hard to list all possible combinations of influential factors that form and shape our identities. However, our identities are the result of these factors which are expressed in our identities.
