Social Welfare Systems Benefit Societies

Welfare and welfare state are relatively new terms incorporated into the social and political debate in each society. Yet, the discussion about welfare and welfare systems in societies is different in different societies that also have different approaches to the matter. However, there is a consensus among almost everyone that welfare systems should exist because of their beneficial aspects to society. Thus, there is a common acceptance of the notion of welfare systems, although it is embraced from different perspectives. That is, welfare systems are advantageous for society from different points of view.

Mainly, states and governments have powerful tools that can be used to intervene when individual efforts by individuals in society are not enough. That is, critical issues in societies can not be tackled by individuals but rather need comprehensive resources that only are held by and available to governments. In other words, issues such as socioeconomic, educational, poverty, and other social critical issues can only be tackled by governments and people who are in need would benefit from them. Accordingly, welfare systems are necessary for those people who can be excluded and not get crucial help to survive when welfare systems are absent, according to (O´Campo et al., 2015).

Furthermore, social welfare systems are not only necessary for the survival of groups in the society that need help but even to ensure an equal society. This is because those systems are designed to include these groups. The number of people who are dependent on welfare systems should never be underestimated as there is a wide pattern of people in need who try to survive on a daily basis and are dependent on welfare. According to Moran (2018), there is one among every three individuals who are dependent on welfare systems in society.

Orwell (2018) illustrates a state of the absence of a welfare state in society for mine workers which can lead not only to poverty but even to more complicated and comprehensive negative effects for the whole society. In other words, welfare is a tool that can be used by governments to counterfeiting and tackle future problems in society. If the welfare systems are absent, those problems would just get bigger and harder to cope with.

Finally, welfare systems are crucial in each society to ensure several critical aspects such as tackling negative social phenomena, enhancing equality, and coping with problems that can appear in the future due to the absence of welfare systems in a certain society. In simpler words, welfare systems are crucial tools in each society to tackle all those issues and create a sustainable reality while at the same effectively coping with future problems. Therefore, welfare systems are advantageous and should always be enhanced to benefit society.
